I'd like to give my thoughts to the 2009 Conference.
WOW! What an awesome conference once again. The ladies and their husbands deserve medals. They did very well considering there where two venues. I have to say that I just loved it when told that the Walking Bus would be leaving at 8.15 sharp. And what a Band. They never once stopped playing. The speakers were well worth hearing. The work-shops that I went to were very enlightening and I learnt a lot. The stores that where at the church where great with a lot of bargains to be had. I certainly took good advantage of these bargains! The DT's conference is the place to go to meet your peers, to pick each other’s brains, to learn new things and to take back new things that you can share with your residents. Let’s face it. We can get a bit stale just working on our own. I believe there were 149 DT's or there-a-bouts. My only disappointment was the number of entries for the competitions. I think if the far South can make the effort to bring paintings, other art, and Christmas things on a plane with them - and like-wise from the far North – perhaps the middle bit of the country could do the same! For the next Conference - can we all (PLEASE) make a big effort to bring more ideas to share – to really help all of new ones out here. I'd also like to give my thanks to our Executive for making themselves so available to everyone at any time. It was also nice to see one or two of Executive on the Bus tour. I can't wait for the next one in Auckland - to meet up with the new friends that my husband and I made.
Good on you Auckland for standing up for the next one. But where were the Mainlanders? Couldn’t those of us in the South have been better role models? I hope next year brings out our best! Roszanne Davidson
