Membership - Responsibilities
Responsibilities for Members of the NZSDT Inc.
Members are required to be responsible for the following:
- To notify the Secretary of a change of address.
- To forward a letter of resignation if no longer intending to remain a member.
- To respond to the National Executive Committee via;
1. Participating in questionnaires
2. Giving feedback
3. Giving ongoing support
The Executive Committee work very hard to develop the professional and standards for members of the Society.
- Your input is necessary and valuable for the development and continuation of the Society.
- Please assist by acknowledging your responsibilities.

Members are required to:
- Share the same aims of the Society and abide Societies the Constitution and rules.
- Abide by the NZSDT Code of Ethics.
- Abide by the Societies Standards of Practice.
- Be a member of the NZSDT Inc. for two continuous years, before applying for the Diversional Therapy Badge.
- Be responsible for renewing Membership.
- Pay Membership fees when due.

Members are encouraged to:
- Provide support in setting up and development of Support Groups.
- Provide access to resources.
- Facilitate a sharing approach of information access to specialised knowledge and skills.
- Provide a coordinated approach to advice on issues affecting Support Groups and their member's worldwide.

Members and dealings with the Media
All Media Statements regarding the Society and its Aims are to be released through or by the NZSDT Inc.
Purpose
- To maintain a consistent spokesperson for the Society.
Procedure
- Members, who are approached by their local Newspaper and / or Management to make any statement regarding Diversional Therapy and its Aims, should seek approval of the Executive Committee.
- The approval will be made through the Secretary either verbally or in writing.
- The Secretary will contact the President and the Public Awareness Portfolio Holder, immediately after receipt of the request.
- The answer must be given as soon as after consultation.
- A copy of the article should be sent to the Public Awareness Portfolio Holder, for the Societies files.
- Other NEC Members not involved in the process should be informed, and a copy of the article faxed to them, as necessary.

Membership and Regional Support Groups
Although Regional Support Groups are autonomous; an affiliation with the NZSDT is the objective.
Members of the NZSDT Inc have certain responsibilities and obligations.
- Follow NZSDT Inc. Aims and Goals.
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics and other nationally agreed Policies.
- Attend Regional meetings, Training and Educational meetings as often as possible.
- Support the National Conference and Annual General meeting.
- Support Group Contacts, as listed in the National Newsletter, must be a current members of the Society.
