About the event
Coaching in relation to instruction and training was introduced in the field of academia around 1830. Sports coaching and business coaching extended the field and it was some time later before life coaching took shape (often credited to Thomas Leonard in the 1980s).
Modern day coaching takes on a number of different styles and approaches, and until recently has been a largely head based, talk focused intervention.
Today, coaching continues to expand and modalities around somatic, body-mind, and embodiment practices are becoming popular. Working with the body to communicate with a range of body based intelligences, as well as taking account of external influencing factors enables coaches to offer a more systemic, integrated approach to more fully understand life situations – and offer a coaching approach that enables clients to make changes.
