I am a Registered Diversional Therapist based in New Zealand, originally from the Philippines, where I began my career as a Registered Nurse. Growing up in a family of healthcare professionals inspired my own journey in this field. While I initially sought new challenges outside of nursing in New Zealand, I eventually returned to healthcare as a Diversional Therapist.

Since May 2015, I have been with Kumeu Village, a privately owned rest home in Auckland, joining just two months after its opening. I currently manage the Life Enhancement team across our three facilities: Kumeu Village, The Ladybug, and Kingfisher House. The culture at Kumeu Village, grounded in the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care, creates a home-like environment that I find deeply fulfilling. I am passionate about being part of a community that encourages and empowers individuals to live life to the fullest. As a natural people person, I thrive on interactions and learning from others.

In addition to my role at Kumeu Village, I have been an Executive Board Member of the New Zealand Society of Diversional Therapists Inc. since 2017, where I served as the Social Media Liaison. After a brief hiatus, I am excited to return and contribute to the society's mission.

Outside of work, I cherish time with my "unico hijo" (only son), who is now 12 years old. We enjoy exploring New Zealand’s stunning landscapes and trying new activities together. Music is another passion of mine; I have been playing the piano since I was five and also enjoy the organ, drums, guitar, and a bit of violin. Staying active and engaging in various hobbies is essential to my well-being.

I believe therapeutic recreation is vital for enhancing well-being. I am dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to vulnerable individuals, aiming to uncover their potential through diverse programs that foster self-esteem and self-worth. Witnessing our residents engage in activities, adapt to their needs, and express gratitude is incredibly rewarding. Hearing comments like, “I’ve really enjoyed our activity today” or “Thank you, you’ve made my day” reinforces my commitment to improving their quality of life. I am passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.
