This September we celebrate the 33rd year of Diversional and Recreational Therapy Day & Week.

 

Since our incorporation in 1992, this week has been set aside to celebrate, connect, and raise awareness about the essential work of Diversional and Recreational Therapists (DRTs) across Aotearoa.

​

Our 2025 theme, He Kākano, He Tipu – From Seed to Growth, reminds us that growth happens through care, nurture, and connection. Just as a seed needs soil, water, and sunlight, people flourish when they are supported with creativity, empathy, and companionship.

​

This year’s celebration includes a series of activities designed to honour our history, showcase our profession, and plant seeds for the future. Together, we will reflect on where we have come from and where we are heading, as we continue to strengthen our network of care.
