About the event
When unresolved moral trauma complicates the life review process for those in our care, how can we respond safely and compassionately to the spiritual and existential needs arising from their moral wounds? Informed by the spiritual care of veterans at end-of-life, this presentation will facilitate discussion regarding support of those revealing earlier moral conflicts during life’s final chapter. The overlay of life-review, moral trauma, and moral healing will be explored, framed within the ethics of practice at life’s end. Jessie Stephenson, is a Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner, working at Perley Health, a long-term care home for seniors and veterans in Ottawa, Ontario. Working with those at end-of-life, Jessie values trauma-informed narrative and palliative approaches to spiritual care. She holds a MDiv from Emmanuel College
