Diversional and Recreational Therapy is my zeal. I began my career in NZ in Aged Care setting twenty years ago and developed a genuine interest to enhance the lives of senior citizens with dementia. By day this passion of mine grew and I decided to make this my professional. For 10 years I worked for Metlifecare as a Registered Diversional and Recreational Therapist but changed my role early 2024 to become a Village Coordinator for Bupa Erin Park Retirement Village. I brought my expertise to the independent living and supporting the retirees in the village life to be more creative, enjoyable and have purposeful activities. Apart from supporting the clients, I also mentor/support the Activities staff and Northern Activities Group for Bupa. I also had the opportunity to serve the NZSDRT Executive Board as the National Registrar in 2023-2024. I am also a Registered Careerforce Assessor which gives me an opportunity to encourage peers to purse their studies in Diversional and Recreational Therapy.
My vision is to support NZSDRT to embrace the future without limits and break conventional boundaries and support the ongoing development of this profession to serve the diverse community.
