Mekiesha Waller

My name is Mekiesha, and I am a Registered Diversional Therapist with the Allied Health team at Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust. My journey in care began at just 15 years old as a support worker, where I quickly discovered a deep passion for helping people live meaningful and purposeful lives, no matter the challenges they face.

I became a qualified Diversional Therapist in 2017, developing strong foundations in person-centred practice, programme planning, and holistic wellbeing within the aged care sector. In 2023, I transitioned into the traumatic brain injury and disability field a move that truly reshaped my understanding of the powerful role diversional therapy plays in neurological rehabilitation, disability, and mental health settings. Becoming a Registered Diversional Therapist that same year strengthened my commitment to professional excellence and sector advocacy.

In 2025, I completed a Diploma in Health and Wellbeing and Diversional Therapy, further advancing my clinical knowledge, leadership capability, and culturally responsive practice. I am passionate about championing meaningful engagement as a cornerstone of recovery, identity, and dignity. I am dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening the workforce, and contributing to innovative, inclusive, and future-focused practice.
