Vice President
Nika Manuera
My name is Nika Manuera, and I have had the privilege of serving as the Media and Communications Liaison for the New Zealand Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapists Inc. I am of Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Pikiao (Te Arawa), and I am passionate about promoting our profession, strengthening connections, and supporting the growth of our members.
Alongside my Society role, I work as a healthcare lecturer, where I have the privilege of preparing the next generation of Diversional and Recreational Therapists. I am committed to advancing holistic wellbeing and encouraging culturally responsive practice across our profession.
Over the past year, I have helped expand the Society's communications through new social media platforms, supported initiatives such as DRT Week, introduced monthly professional development calendars, represented Aotearoa in international knowledge exchanges, and promoted Recreational Therapy to future practitioners through careers education.
I believe in the power of collaboration, cultural connection, and lifelong learning. If elected Vice President, I look forward to continuing to strengthen our profession, amplify the voices of our members, and help shape an inclusive and inspiring future for NZSDRT.
